Living Air Purifier
Living Air Purifier enhances power of houseplants to create clean air
ANDREA combines research and innovation with elegant design
ANDREA (www.ANDREAAir.com), the award-winning ‘living air purifier’ that uses everyday houseplants to cleanse indoor air of harmful toxins, is now, for the first time, available for purchase throughout North America. The only product of its kind, ANDREA effectively harnesses the metabolic powers of plants to remove airborne toxins that present health risks in many domestic and work environments, in the perfect marriage of art and science.
Houseplants possess natural systems that absorb and eliminate airborne pollutants, employing active plant filtration along with water and soil to cleanse the air. The launch of ANDREA marks a major step in plant-based air purification design, advancing on over 30 years of scientific research to improve the efficiency of living plants to naturally detoxify and continuously clean and oxygenate the air.
Harvard University professor, David Edwards, one of ANDREA’s inventors, states “ANDREA is an innovation in ecological living, bringing to market for the first time the science of plant-based air purification in a truly unique consumer product to promote healthful living.”
Independent testing laboratories have proven that ANDREA is 40 times more efficient than standard HEPA and carbon filters in removing volatile toxins, such as formaldehyde, a known human carcinogen commonly used in floor coverings, or benzene and ammonia, found in many household cleaning supplies.
Edwards was joined by French designer, Mathieu Lehanneur, in designing ANDREA as part of an exhibition at Le Laboratoire, a Paris-based art and science innovation center, founded by Edwards. “ANDREA was engineered to marry art and science by creating a product suitable for any setting that boasts high-design at an affordable price,” states Lehanneur.

Since launching in Europe in 2008, ANDREA has been recognized as the ‘Invention of the Year’ by Popular Science magazine and was also exhibited in the ‘Design and the Elastic Mind’ exhibition at the New York Museum of Modern Art.
ANDREA is currently available for purchase in the United States through Hammacher Schlemmer, Frontgate and Amazon.com (MSR: $199.00). For further information, please visit: www.ANDREAAir.com.
About The Inventors
French designer Mathieu Lehanneur has achieved international recognition for his elegant creative designs, developing a real passion for interactions between the body and its environment, living systems and the scientific world. His projects are part of the permanent collections of Museum of Modern Art in New York, Museum of Modern
Art in San Francisco, and the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris, among others.
Harvard professor David Edwards is a scientist, innovator and writer, whose fictional account of the origins of ANDREA is described in his novel Niche (published in 2007 French with Ecole de Beaux Arts, and distributed in English through Harvard University Press), co-written with novelist Jay Cantor.
About Le Laboratoire
ANDREA is the second innovation to emerge this year from Le Laboratoire (www.lelaboratoire.org), an art and science innovation center in central Paris founded by Harvard professor David Edwards. Earlier this year, Le Laboratoire announced the invention of the world’s first ‘breathable chocolate’ called Le Whif (www.lewhif.com). LaboGroup, the exclusive commercial partner of Le Laboratoire, is leading the design, manufacture and commercialization of Le Whif and ANDREA.

I have developed a successful, clean system for storing, drying, and toting redeemables (bottles & cans). It’s the perfect solution to reduce the plastic bag waste when redeeming.
Made in the USA, plus nearly 20% of profits benefits domestic violence safe house, everything is right about this bag! I am looking for a publication to profile the bag.
Would you help?
Howdy, I just bought a brand new HEPA purifier and it’s amazing.
